Cookies are warm and comforting. On a cold winter's day or even when it's snowing, baking is what I love to do. There's something about those fluffy white flakes falling that gets me in the baking mood. Cookies transform us back to our childhood and we associate these sweet treats with positive, happy thoughts.

I was sent a tin of chocolate chip and cranberry with walnut cookies.


The chocolate were my favorite. They had a hint of something extra in them that I couldn't quite place. It tasted sort of ginger-y. It gave the cookie an extra notch of personality, which I enjoyed. The cookie was chock full of chocolate chips which I absolutely loved. It was flavorful, soft and melt in your mouth delicious. I wanted to eat all of the chocolate cookies at once, but I controlled myself :)

I didn't enjoy the cranberry walnut cookies too much. I don't like walnuts combined with cranberry, and I don't enjoy fruit in cookies though. I know people enjoy cookies like this though.

Yum Yum Dishes Review

It can be very hard to limit your portion sizes. Nobody wants half a cookie, or only a very small scoop of mashed potatoes, right? One's health is very important and you can still eat all of your favorite foods, BUT just control your portion sizes. Yum Yum Dishes helps with this.

The Yum Yum Dish is for using to enjoy your favorite snacks. It helps remind you when you're all done! Buy it in a bag, but eat it out of a Yum Yum Dish. The dishes come in a set of 4 in red, blue, green or yellow. They are handpainted, and microwave and dishwasher safe.



I was sent one 4 oz ceramic yellow Yum Yum Dish. I have to be honest though, when I first received it I looked at how small it was and had dreams of constant hunger in the near future dancing through my head. I always try to watch my weight and it's hard to see how little of a portion you should be eating, even though you know it's the right thing. This little bowl is a great source of motivation though. When you finish all of the food in your bowl (the key is to NOT refill it) it says "Yum Yum Time is Over." When you look down and see that message staring right back at you, you know that whatever you're eating, it's time to stop and not have anymore.

I used this bowl the other night for dinner. I made mashed potatoes, chicken, and veggies. I put a small portion of mashed potatoes in the bowl and told myself this was all I was having. I ate my potatoes and did not have anymore. I would normally have an extra spoonful or so, which is something I shouldn't do. I was pleased with myself for having such a small portion of an unhealthy food. I knew that I made the right choice though.

These bowls are great sources of motivation and will certainly help you lose weight, if you're trying to. You will feel so much better about yourself when you have smaller portions of your favorite foods, knowing that you won't be depriving yourself but still keeping on track with your fitness.

I instantly wanted to review this necklace when I saw it. I love how simple it is, but so pretty at the same time. It goes with practically any outfit too which is a plus. It can be worn as casual or dressy too, I love how versatile it is. The only thing I was disappointed with was the size. It seems a lot bigger on the website than it did in person, but that happens sometimes with jewelry. I really like the subtle ridges on the necklace, it gives it more personality. The necklace isn't too long, it's just the right length. The clasp is easy to open and close and the necklace stays on me securely. I'm very happy with this necklace.

The actors fund special has a benefit performance on broadway of Driving Miss Daisy on February 7th. Swappeez Review and Giveaway

Warm weather feels like centuries away and the bleak and cold snowy days we've been having lately in NYC aren't helping. I'd love to trade in my rain boots for a nice pair of sandals though!

While packing for vacation two sisters were faced with a lack of space. Not ones to compromise on style, they came up with the idea that would allow them to take an infinite quantity of sandals without the "not-enough-space" hassle and for very little cost….They called it Swappeez.

The result is a series of fun and colorful interchangeable straps, buckles and accessories that could be designed to match whatever you feel like wearing, be it formal or beachwear, all in an original, versatile and practical way. This altogether new concept makes each woman her own sandal designer, allowing her to make her own personalized sandals by mixing and matching sandal soles, laces and accessories to suit her taste or what she is wearing.



I think Swappeez is such a fun and unique idea! I know that when I go away on vacation I would love to take 18 pairs of shoes with me to match every outfit, but realistically that isn't possible. I can now match all of my outfits with one pair of shoes!

I was sent a great pair of Swappeez in a case with three interchangable buckles.



I love these shoes! In the summer I constantly am wearing flip flops and sandals and I always love a shoe with pizazz and personality. Sometimes you get tired of wearing the same shoes, or you want to switch it up occasionally. The buckles are really cute and I love the gold sparkly buckle. Swappeez offers so many buckles that you will never wear the same buckle twice! Why not match each buckle to your personality? Have fun and be creative with them! Even though the brown buckle is plain, the oval-esque shape of it is still playful and fun. I love the colors of the evil eye buckle, the black, tan, white, and brown all compliment each other so well.

The shoe laces up your leg and is easy to tie and it stays on securely. The buckles are easy to change and stay on securely as well too. The shoe is comfortable and easy to walk in.

Lastly, I really like the case that the shoes and buckles are stored in. The case has a section for the shoes, and a separate case for each buckle too. If they didn't have a case I would have a hard time not losing the buckles. It's very convenient that if I want to change the buckle, I can just put the new one on the shoe and the old one back in the bag. This makes my life easier and I like that I can keep everything together too.

I've always been a fan of this movie since I've been a kid. It's a fun movie that's full of excitement and adventure.

I feel that this movie is suitable for children of any age. They will be quickly drawn into the bright colors and unpredictable plot of the film. Children will be entertained by the characters and will be on the edge of their seats throughout the very end. I was impressed by the digitally restored color to make the film more modern. I hadn't seen this film in about 10 years but I watched it again when I received it, and it's still as good as ever.

Barbara's Bakery Review and Giveaway

I try to maintain a healthy diet. I don't eat fried or fast foods. I try not to eat anything that has dyes or artificial additives or preservatives either. Sometimes it is hard to resist a juicy burger and crispy fries or a piece of creamy chocolate cake though :)

In 1971, when Barbara started our company, the Bay Area was buzzing with young people full of a desire to express their love for all people. The world was changing daily as they created their own paths and sought to turn others onto new directions.

Barbara, then 17, found her calling in real food and opened a small natural bakery in Northern California. She had a simple plan—make wholesome food taste incredibly delicious. Inspired by good health, family, and the kitchen table as the cornerstones of the good life, she used whole grains and oats just as nature intended—free from anything artificial. Barbara selected her ingredients carefully to allow vital vitamins and minerals to do their best to impart their healthy benefits.

I really like that these products are free of anything unnatural, it's very important to me. I was sent an assortment of Barbara's Bakery products. I received two boxes of cereal in Puffins multigrain and high fiber cranberry, a bag of white cheddar cheese puffs, and a bag of chocolate chip Snackimals cookies. Lastly, I received a cute black and white puffin stuffed animal.


I tried the white cheddar cheese puffs first. They had a nice subtle white cheddar taste that was mmmm yummy! The crunch of the puff was satisying and they were really good. I like my chips and cheese puffs to have a nice crunch to them, when the crunch isn't satisying it's not fun. These puffs were pretty addictive and I had to stop myself before eating too much!

I tried a handful of the cranberry cereal next. This cereal is gluten free, but doesn't have a different taste. The bran flakes were crunchy and full of fiber! I enjoyed the cranberry pieces too, they had a great balance of tart and sweetness. The balance was equal, so you could appreciate both flavors at the same time. I don't normally eat cereals like this, but it's good to be healthy frequently. This cereal is 40% of your daily fiber needs which is fabulous, as fiber is an important component of your health and diet.

I had a few of the cookies next. I'm a chocolate fiend so the second I opened the box and saw those my eyes lit up! The cookies had a nice crunch to them, but they were light and fluffy. They were dotted with chocolate chips which was perfect. The cookies weren't overly sweet, but just sweet enough to curb that sweet tooth that everyone has from time to time.

Lastly, I tried the Puffins cereal. It was by far my favorite. Crunchy little multigrain puffs that have only 6g of sugar, and 3g of fiber. They are prebiotic and gluten free. They had a tiny hint of sweetness which I liked, but the big puffy cereal with the large crunch was the best part. The cereal didn't get soggy in the milk either, it maintained its crunch throughout every bite.

The puffin stuffed animal was adorable too! :)

I have to admit that before I tried the system, I was a little hesitant. The system seemed a little hard to use. I read the manual where they had pictures of how to properly use the system without leaving your face splotchy and cakey from the makeup, and then had pictures showing you what you don't want to look like. I thought "I hope I can do this right!"

I watched the techniques demonstrated on the DVD. I then selected my shade of foundation and filled the stylus to the correct level and gave it a go. It was hard to get used to using the stylus at first and I messed up slightly at first, but then I got the hang of it. You can achieve light, medium, or a full layer of coverage depending on what you prefer. If you choose to have more than a light layer of coverage, all you have to do is wait 2-5 seconds for the makeup to dry before applying your next layer. If you don't wait the makeup becomes blotchy and has a caked on look. Not pretty!

I really like the level of coverage the makeup provided me with. The stylus is not hard to fill with the makeup, it's pretty easy. The foundation looked very natural, but not overly done up either. It covered what I want covered and gave me a soft look. I have not used the eyeshadow kit or the blush yet, but I am curious to try them soon. This machine gives me better coverage than foundation I've ever used and I'm truly pleased with it. I like the storage case it comes with because it can be stored away easily.
