What To Do if a Family Member is Hurt in An Accident

Sadly, accidents happen. Even when you are incredibly careful it is not always possible to avoid having one. Every day, across the world, millions of people are hurt as a result of vehicle crashes, slips, falls, workplace mishaps and other types of accidents.
If you or a family member is hurt it is important to know what to do beyond making sure that you or they get the right medical treatment. Below, I take a look at what you need to do to pursue compensation and aid in their physical recovery.
Always remember: the most important thing is to do your research before making any big decisions. Consider reaching out to a local personal injury lawyer to find out more information. Now, let’s look at your next steps...
Write down what happened
As soon as possible write out what happened and do so in detail. If you can, take photos and videos of the scene at the time of the accident. This can make a big difference in your ability to secure compensation.
Or click the one below to access a detailed list of the kind of things you need to include when writing up what happened. Dont worry about the fact that this article was written primarily with accident scene investigators in mind. If you take the same approach you will be assured of capturing as much evidence as possible. Facts that can be used to prove that someone else was responsible for the accident. As you will see even seemingly small details can turn out to be important when it is time to claim compensation.
Support the physical recovery of your injured family member
It is just as important to help your child, partner, or other family members with the physical recovery process. That could mean volunteering to take them to their hospital appointments or agreeing to accompany them on a short walk a couple of times a week. Every little bit helps. The more severely they are hurt the more important it is that they receive practical help. Without it, many people fail to make as full a recovery as possible.
Offer emotional support
You also need to be mindful of the mental and emotional impact being injured can have. Reading this will give you a better understanding of how easy it is to enter a downward spiral that leads to depression and other mental health.

5 Ways to Prepare for Childbirth

So, you’re pregnant? Congratulations! There’s nothing more exciting than becoming a new parent.

But let’s slow down for a moment. Before you get to meet your baby, there’s a pretty difficult obstacle to overcome first: childbirth. As a first-time parent, the thought can be daunting. You might be worried about pain, complications or trauma (see a birth injury attorney in your area if you are affected). But don’t worry. Pay attention to the following tips, and you’ll be just fine.

Exercise
Pregnant women’s bodies go through a lot. Many women experience incontinence and feel significant changes in their bodies post-birth. While you can’t prevent these changes, keeping fit and active during pregnancy will help to prepare your body for childbirth and ease recovery. Regularly doing pelvic floor exercises, for example, will strengthen the muscles and help to control any accidents.

Incontinence can go away after giving birth (not always right away, though). In the meantime, pregnant women can wear incontinence protection pads or adult diapers to protect against leakage and avoid embarrassing accidents.

Birth plan
Many people like to have birth plans in place before they go into labor. This puts their mind at ease and ensures that their doctor knows their preferences. There are many things you can ask for, such as dimmed lights or music. You can talk over any medications you would like or what the best plan is if there are complications. Generally, getting to know your doctor and understanding the process is a great way to prepare and make childbirth go as smoothly as possible.

Classes
Going to a class is a great way to prepare for childbirth. You will be in a room with other soon-to-be-parents and can talk about your insecurities. You’ll learn a great deal about your body and how childbirth works. It can be a great place to connect to your partner and make sure you both understand the process. But, if you don’t have a partner, please don’t fear going to these classes. You can talk to other parents in similar situations and you might find that you make new lifelong friends.

Relaxation
Many women feel incredibly stressed and worried about childbirth. It’s completely natural – and normal. However, it won’t do you any good to constantly dwell on it. In fact, stress and anxiety could have a negative impact on the health and wellbeing of you and your child. So, learn how to relax. Go for some long walks, take a bath or practice meditation. This will put you in good stead for when the day comes. Another tip for relaxation is to use massage chairs while pregnant. This will not only help you reduce stress but also save you from swollen ankles and feet, and bring you more restful sleep. Don't forget to consult your physician beforehand.

Communication
When you’re pregnant, it’s important to communicate with others and share your experiences. No pregnant woman should ever feel as though she should go through the experience alone. So, communicate with your partner, friends and family. Speaking to your mother or another important female figure in your life who has been through it could ease your anxiety, too. Everything might seem stressful, but when you finally get to meet your baby it’ll all be worth it.

Triple Peanut Butter Cookie Pie Would Be Great to Make This Summer

I firmly believe in indulging in delicious desserts on any day that ends in Y.  Whether I'm sinking my teeth into a luscious piece of chocolate cake or having an ice cream sundae, you can guarantee that my belly will be happy.

Recently, I stumbled upon a dessert recipe that I knew I had to make. Who doesn't love the flavors of smooth and creamy peanut butter with chocolate candies and Reese's peanut butter cups? The combination is both sinful and rich.  If this is right up your alley, I have a wonderful treat for you to sink your teeth into.

This Triple Peanut Butter Cookie Pie will not only make your tastebuds dance, but it'll put a big smile on your face too.  Dessert always tends to make me smile.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
1 large egg
1 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
heaping 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup all purpose flour
optional, pinch of salt to taste
12 to 14 mini peanut butter cups
about 2/3 cup peanut butter M &M's

Candy perfection

Steps:

1. Preheat oven to 350F.  Spray a 9-inch pie dish with floured cooking spray; set aside.

2. In a large, microwave-safe bowl melt the butter, about 1 minute on high power.

3. Wait momentarily before adding the egg so you don't scramble it.  Add the e.g., brown sugar, peanut butter, vanilla, and whisk until smooth.

4. Add the flour, optional salt, and stir until just combined; don't over mix.

5. Turn batter out into prepared pie dish, smoothing the top lightly with a spatula.

6. Evenly insert the peanut butter cups into the batter, pushing them down so the top is almost flush with the surface of the dough.

7. Evenly insert the chocolate candies into the batter, pushing them down to anchor.

8. Bake for about 28 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean, or with a few moist crumbs, but no batter.  If your pie has risen in the center, it will deflate as it cools.  Allow pie to cool in pan for at least 30 minutes before slicing and serving.  Pie will keep airtight at room temperature for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 6 months.

Dessert is served

You'll be left with a luxurious and silky pie that you won't want to share with anyone.  The peanut butter flavor is perfect matched with the chocolate candies. What a classic combination, don't you think?

These layers of peanut butter and chocolate will make anyone happy

You'll be requested to make this delicious pie time and time again, and your family will absolutely love it.  It's so easy to make that you'll be able to whip it up in no time.

Don't forget a tall glass of icy cold milk.
