She celebrated her first birthday December 9th, although we had an early party for her on November 28th. The age she is at now is so much fun. She loves to play and has even started to be more interested in books.
This girl can really eat. She loves any and all foods and could eat for hours if we let her! We've started backing away from having purees be the main focus of her meals, and letting table food be the star. Some new foods that she's tried recently are turkey burgers, naan bread, pizza, grilled cheese, mac and cheese, pasta, turkey, chicken, etc. Scarlett gets so excited when it's meal time and you put her in her high chair. She starts grunting! I always make sure that whatever I give her for any meal either has a fruit or vegetable with it, that's really important to me. We do not give a lot of sweets at all, and she's only had juice twice in her life.
Another new development in Scarlett's life is not being on formula anymore. A week before her first birthday, we made the switch to whole milk. She handled it well and didn't have any problems switching. She did develop a small milk rash allergy on her face but it has gone away now. Her milk is organic which is extremely necessary for all babies.
Scarlett loves to sleep and takes an hour and a half nap in the morning, and between a 2 and a 2 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon. We've been extremely lucky that she has slept through the night from 7-7 since she was 6 months old. She does not wake up at all during the night.
Lynnie and Scarlett continue to be best friends. Scarlett laughs at her all day long and loves to be around her.
We had Scarlett's one year well visit the other day and she is 17th percentile for height, and 40th percentile for weight. She weighs 19 lbs and is a tiny girl!
Currently, Scarlett is not walking or talking. She's into everything and we've had to childproof our house to keep her safe. There's nothing that she doesn't want to touch! Scarlett loves her VTECH walker and walks around the house with it everywhere. She crawls all over the place and loves to crawl up and down the stairs.
We start a 14 week one's program on January 28th and I'm really looking forward to that. It'll be good for Scarlett to learn in a classroom setting. I can only teach her so much at home. So far she recognizes the words up and no. If you say up she lifts her arms up to be picked up. She has sometimes selective hearing with the word no. ;)
I can't wait to see what's in store for Scarlett in the near future! Hopefully we'll get some snow so we can use her new snowsuit and take her sledding. I can't wait to take pictures of that.
Scarlett is such a cutie - thanks for sharing the pictures!
