A Southern Girl in the Big City-Post 3

There's nothing that I love more than Christmas in New York. As all of the major cold season holidays approach, I think of them with a smile on my face. The tourists are here which actually adds to the appeal, as you can share the holiday joy with so many people. Christmas in any other place would feel much different, I think. A major holiday in a big city is always taken to the next level which I am thankful for.

The major department stores have a beautiful holiday window display, and you can't help but stop to admire them. You can bet that at any given time there will be a crowd gathered around the storefront of Bloomingdales or Lord and Tayor. Every year the Saks 5th Avenue building has a moving snowflake display which I love, it's my favorite. The snowflakes move and change shape right before your eyes.

You should always take a break from your holiday shopping to check out the tree in Rockefeller Center and do some ice skating too. The tree seems to get larger every year and it's always decorated so beautifully.

I haven't been ice skating in several years, but I'll make sure I get the chance this December. It's a lot of fun even though I am wobbly in the beginning.

After the outdoor fun, I always stop by Starbucks to warm up and get my favorite hot beverage- a peppermint hot chocolate. I discovered them a few years ago and they are my go-to cold weather treat. No whip cream though please :)

I urge you to make a visit to the big city during Christmas. Even though it's freezing, it's such a fun and memorable experience that the cold weather will not dampen your fun time.
